“When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.”

Nathan Chow, PhD

Helping and encouraging others has always been a value of mine and I strive to support people in discovering their genuine selves, tap into their inner strengths, and pursue their own values.

I am a licensed psychologist in both California (PSY27921) and Washington (PY61358351). I have a private practice in SF Bay Area working with teens and adults in individual therapy. In addition to my private practice, I am a psychologist at Kaiser Permanente.

More About Me.

In addition to my private practice, I am a clinical psychologist at Kaiser Permanente on the Intensive Outpatient Program team providing group therapy to adults in psychiatric crises. I am also the head of the ADHD Screening Clinic for both adults and children. Outside of this, I work as a mental health clinician for the San Mateo County correctional facilities providing crisis management and coping skills to male and female inmates. In addition, I am an adjunct faculty member at the University of San Francisco teaching psychology courses to undergraduate students.

Professional.

Education.

I originally earned my BA in Psychology from the University of Southern California, while minoring in social work and consumer behavior. I then earned my MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University with a Child and Family emphasis.

Training.

During my graduate training, my main areas of interests were in adolescents and young adults. I focused on gaining experience in multiple settings, which led me to training opportunities in outpatient community clinics, a non-public high school, college counseling, juvenile detention center, adult correctional facility, and outpatient hospital clinic. I completed my predoctoral internship at Kaiser Permanente in Fresno, CA where I had rotations with children and families in the outpatient clinic, as well as adults in the Intensive Outpatient Program. I then completed my postdoctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City, CA on the Child and Adolescent team. After finishing my residency, I transitioned to full-time employment at Kaiser Permanente.

I am originally from Southern California and moved to the Bay for graduate school and have been here ever since. I am an avid traveller who likes to try new food, restaurants, and experiences. I like cooking and experimenting with new dishes and recipes. I also enjoy being outdoors and hiking with my family and dog. I am a big sports fan too, and definitely root for Los Angeles based teams.

Personal.
