My Style.

Every therapist has a different style that works for them, and there is definitely no “one size fits all” approach to therapy. I encourage everyone to seek the right fit for your individual therapeutic needs.

My therapeutic style can best be described as open, genuine, and direct, but also humorous. I enter the therapeutic relationship with my clients with compassion, curiosity, and honesty. It is vital to me that we create a trusting and safe environment where we can communicate openly with one another. We will go at your speed and address the issues that are most important to you. My aim is that our work together will help facilitate and promote your personal growth and change in a number of ways.

Clinical Approach.

My clinical approach is integrative in nature, and since therapy is collaborative and dynamic, I try to tailor my approach to your needs and style.

I utilize techniques from a number of different evidence-based therapy modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Positive Psychology, and mindfulness based approaches. I also work from a strengths-based model where you are the expert of your own life and experiences and we use these to your advantage in therapy.  Using the strengths that make you a unique individual in the therapeutic process, I trust in your ability to change and grow.

Types of Therapies.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

A common therapeutic approach that focuses on inaccurate, negative, or unhelpful thinking patterns. It also addresses how these negative thinking patterns are associated with our emotional states and potentially unhealthy behaviors or actions.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy  (DBT)

A type of CBT and skill-based therapeutic approach that utilizes four main strategies: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Emotion Regulation.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is a form of behavioral therapy that focuses on increasing psychological flexibility. It utilizes mindfulness skills to help accept our emotions, engage in the present moment, and either continue or change our behaviors.

Positive Psychology

A complement to more “traditional” therapies, positive psychology helps to identify and develop positive emotions, experiences and traits.
